In June, my best friend turned 34. We always try to get together for our birthdays and spend some time with just the two of us because, all too often, we have kids in tow. So, this year, I thought it might be fun to try Wine and Canvas. We’d never done it before and had talked frequently about trying it and this was the perfect opportunity. It was so much fun! We had a blast and painted a really beautiful painting! I had no idea how much fun it would be. I went home and the next day went and bought some supplies. Brushes, canvases, paints, an easel, the whole nine yards. I had a week off of work to spend at home with my kids during summer vacation. We draped the dining room table with a red and white checkered tablecloth, set up our easels and paint palettes and went to it. The results blew my mind. I had absolutely no idea I could paint. Much less paint something people liked! Once I started, I couldn’t stop. I took pictures of my paintings and posted them on Facebook. The feedback I received was overwhelming. People were asking me where I took classes, how much I charged for my paintings, if I was on display at any local galleries or art shows, etc. I couldn’t believe it! I brushed it off at first and told people I just enjoyed doing it. But then, the more I posted, the more people wanted my paintings. I’ve been told that sometimes we’re our own worst critic. I never imagined people would want to pay me money for these paintings. But I’m willing to give it a shot. Let’s see what happens!
